Six Moon Designs Six Moon Designs
Six Moon Designs' "Six Moon" was named after the fact that it takes about six months to complete the 4,279 km Pacific Crest Trail (PCT). When brand owner Ron Moak experienced the PCT in 2000, he felt a strong need for lightweight gear, which inspired him to create innovative ultra-lightweight gear.
[Brand Story]
Brand owner Ron Moak was fascinated by the Appalachian Trail after his first backpacking experience in high school. A few years later, he set out on the 3,500km Appalachian Trail with his wife Linda in the summer of 1977. Inspired by hikers like Grandma Gatewood, Ron and Linda began making their own hiking gear and completed the PCT in 2000.
In May 2002, Six Moon Designs produced its first product, the Europa Tent. The Europa Tent met various criteria, such as being lightweight yet sturdy, easy to set up, and reasonably priced, making it a tent that is suitable for a wide range of use, including in the backcountry. Since then, the company has released a series of innovative products, including the Starlight Pack, Gatewood Cape, and Luna Solo. Ron is one of the few hikers to have achieved the Triple Crown. His extensive experience on the trails has led to the development of excellent gear for all those who enjoy the outdoors. Six Moon Designs is based in Portland, Oregon, USA.

Six Moon Designs Deschutes Plus Tarp 450g Tent Tarp 3-4 Seasons 1-2 Person Six Moon Designs Deschutes Plus Tarp
The "plus" in Deschutes Plus refers to the 20D No-See-Um net added to the bottom. It's super lightweight and the net means you don't have to worry about insects getting in. It's a one-person tarp, but it's spacious enough for two people. It perfectly balances openness and comfort. It's an extremely comfortable tarp tent. The Deschutes Plus Tarp is the successor to the WildOASIS, SMD's most maniac shelter. The interior height has been increased from 115cm to 122cm, greatly improving livability! Although it has a maniac shape, the bottom net surrounding it on all four sides makes it a comfortable tarp shelter to use in the mountains of Japan regardless of the season. *Trekking poles and other items are not included in the product.
The Six Moon Designs Deschutes Plus Tarp is a must-have item for outdoor enthusiasts, as it is lightweight and offers spaciousness. You can enjoy the outdoor experience in an open environment without worrying about insects. In addition, the interior height has been improved, improving livability and providing a comfortable sleeping environment. It can be used in any season and is useful in various outdoor scenes such as camping, trekking, and mountain climbing.
The Six Moon Designs Deschutes Plus Tarp is useful for a variety of situations, including camping, trekking, and mountain climbing. A comfortable and lightweight tarp tent is important, especially for outdoor enthusiasts who often spend time in natural environments. It is spacious enough for one person, but can also be used by two people, making it ideal for outdoor trips with friends or family.
■ Wide effective area
The bug nets hanging down from the four walls are almost perpendicular to the ground. Thanks to this, even when the entrance is closed, the inside area for movement is wide, which is the best feature of this tent. The sleeping bag does not touch the tent even if you lie down at a slight angle, so you can place your equipment on the left and right, and enjoy a luxurious space.
■Mesh prevents insects, snow, and dead leaves from entering
The bottom mesh not only constantly lets fresh air in, but also blocks the intrusion of insects, powdery snow, dead leaves, etc. Basically, it is a three-season shelter, but depending on how you use it, it can also be used in the snowy season below the tree line and in early winter.
■ Peace of mind from being able to check your surroundings immediately
When staying overnight in the mountains, there are many cases where you may encounter animals in the middle of the night. The Wild Oasis has a unique feature that allows you to observe the outside immediately through a 360-degree mesh while you sleep, so you can always check the direction of the sound or any abnormalities outside, which gives you a sense of security and eliminates unnecessary worries.
The Deschutes Plus Tarp is not just a tent for enthusiasts, but also provides the protection of a shelter, making it a highly recommended item for beginners to floorless shelters. It weighs 450 with mesh. It is a lightweight model that has evolved and is not to be missed.
Deschutes Plus Tarp 450g
A streamlined, no-frills shelter, the Duschutz Plus Tarp is perfect for the active ultralight hiker. It packs down so easily that it might get lost in your pack. It's roomy enough for a comfortable night's sleep without the claustrophobia of a smaller tarp, and with full 360-degree protection, you won't need to bring an extra bivvy. Duschutz Plus's all-around No-See-Um hem means you won't need to bring a net to keep out those pesky mosquitos.
The 45 cm tail allows the shelter to be pitched at different heights. The tail is tucked inside the canopy to minimize rain absorption. It is pitched using a single hiking pole or an optional carbon fibre pole. If you want to eliminate the poles inside the shelter, you can hang the shelter from a tree branch. The Duschutz Plus can be pitched at different heights, just like a tarp. It can be lowered for inclement weather or raised for balmy nights for maximum ventilation. It is a one person tent but can also be used by two people.
