★Bush Craft Inc. What is Bushcraft?★

In modern times, it has become an outdoor style that allows you to become one with nature. Long before we were born, our ancestors lived in harmony with nature. They had the "wisdom to live with the forest." Bushcraft is an "old and new style" that reminds us of that. Bushcraft techniques start with knifework and firemaking.

★The origins of bushcraft★

Our ancestors lived in the wild with only a limited number of tools such as knives, saws, axes, and flint. When they found a good spot, they built a hut with materials available, made a campfire with flint, procured water and food locally, and made anything they needed through woodworking. They did so for a variety of reasons, including pioneering new lands, forestry, and hunting. They settled there for a while, and honed the techniques and wisdom of bushcraft as a way of living. In Japan, there is Japanese bushcraft.

★Today's outdoors is "unnatural"★

Bushcraft believes that the outdoors is about using what is available in nature and enjoying being one with nature. Modern climbers need lightweight, convenient tools manufactured with the latest technology to reach the summit, and they don't have to worry about how many hours and kilometers they walked, or which route they took. In that case, I think that modern mountain climbing is not an outdoor activity, but a sport. They play music at high volume in the middle of nature. They wear earphones while walking up the mountain. They leave their traces behind and return home. They only want their gear to be light. They can't even cook a meal without a stove, and they think that waterproof and breathable is an absolute advantage. They only wear clothes made of synthetic fibers. They want their tools to be comfortable. If that is always the case, won't people just get weaker? It seems to me that the way we enjoy nature is becoming unnatural. For humans, nature is 99% blessings and 1% wonders. However, because we can't make use of the blessings, we only see the wonders. Because it has become too convenient, we lose our skills and wisdom, forget the blessings, and without tools we only feel the wonders. In order to break out of this negative spiral, perhaps we need to gain the wisdom to live with the forest through bushcraft?
