The lightest hammock in the world

Hummingbird Hammocks.

Hummingbird Hammocks The designer of Hummingbird Hammocks looked around his rigging loft and used some used skydiving materials he had on hand to create an ultra-lightweight hammock. The used materials were borrowed from a parachute company and the resulting product was lighter, stronger and packs up much smaller than any other hammock on the market. Funded by a Kickstarter campaign, the successful product has grown to a fully operational base in Monument, Colorado, and continues to develop further products.

A new generation hammock that is surprisingly light and can be used in any situation. Hummingbird Hammocks, made in Denver, Colorado, was founded in 2014 by a skydiving enthusiast who wanted to create a hammock that was lighter and smaller than conventional hammocks, yet strong enough to be taken anywhere, using the same material used in parachutes.

The company's lineup is focused on lightness, with a single hammock for one person weighing in at 145g. The double hammock, which can be used with more space to put a mat inside, is also made of ultra-lightweight materials weighing in at 280g, even considering the surface area ratio. The separately sold tree straps required for use can also be used with other manufacturers, and weigh only 60g, so the smallest combination weighs just 205g!

If you have a tree, you can sleep anywhere and you don't need a chair, and if it's warm, you don't even need a mat, so you can build a daringly lightweight and fun place to stay. What's more, once you get used to it, you can set it up in just a minute, which is its simple shape. The act of sleeping in a hammock has always fascinated us. However, previous items were a bit heavy and bulky, so it was hard to actively take them to camp. However, with the arrival of this item, the curtain is about to rise again on hammock camping, the final stronghold of UL.

This is a hammock that I would recommend to anyone with back pain or who is a side sleeper and cannot sleep on their back. If your back is cold, you can tie a mat or puffin under quilt to it, or you can try it on a camping chair. Please try hiking with a hammock. It's fun.

PIA-C-44378 T4 CERTIFIED FABRIC

Made from genuine FAA approved parachute material (1.1oz uncoated). Calendared ripstop nylon PIA-C-44379 Made in the USA. The same material used in skydiving and BASE jumping parachute systems.

Although it is a thin material, it has a strength of 22.7 kg per 6.3 cm2 and is safe. The fabric is not coated, so it does not feel sticky on the skin and is comfortable to wear. It is also windproof, so it keeps out the cold wind.

DYE SUBLIMATION

We do not use silk screens, patches or tags on the brand names on our products because this would make the hammocks too heavy and bulky.

Instead, they use dye sublimation, a fabric printing process similar to tattooing, but with special inks. Heat and pressure combine the inks to create a gas ink, which is then dyed into fabrics like nylon or polyester, creating a permanent, fade-resistant color that doesn't affect the weight or size of the fabric.

Tree Straps

Tired of carrying around heavy wooden straps? We were too. At 1.55 ounces and packed smaller than a candy bar, this strap can go anywhere.

SILPOLY FABRIC

Most hammock tarps are made using Silnylon, a material known for its breathability and tendency to stretch after getting wet. These properties are primarily due to the hygroscopic (moisture-wicking) nature of the nylon fabric.

SilPoly avoids both of these pitfalls due to the hydrophobic (water-repellent) properties of polyester fabric. It is created by soaking the best polyester fabric in a thin silicone coating, resulting in a fabric that is both highly waterproof and hydrophobic. This fabric won't mist or stretch when wet, and you can easily shake off rainwater before packing up.
