The Wild Bird Society of Japan, a public interest incorporated foundation, was founded in 1934 with the goals of providing opportunities to enjoy seeing wild birds in their natural state, spreading scientific knowledge about wild birds and proper conservation ideas, preserving the natural environment, cultivating a spirit of respect for nature among the public, and thereby contributing to the development of a society rich in humanity.The society is engaged in a variety of conservation activities, including the "Campaign to Protect Vanishing Swallows," "Protecting the Sea for Crested Murres," and the "Shiba Insect Owl Conservation Project."In addition, revenues from the sale of birdwatching equipment, rain boots, bird guidebooks, etc. are used for nature conservation activities.
