When BearVault was first launched, existing bear canisters were small, heavy, and difficult to use. BearVault founders wanted to create a canister that was easier to use, and the first in the BearVault series, the BV100, was clear, lightweight, spacious, and easy to open, with a large opening. Its innovative approach to rethinking the bear canister led to it being selected as the Backpacker Magazine Editor's Choice Award winner in 2004. As more parks began to implement food storage regulations, BearVault's easy-to-use canisters played a key role in promoting widespread canister use to protect bears, other wildlife, and people.

The BV425-Sprint has the same quality, design, and bear value as our classic bear containers for simple, light 1-2 day sprints into bear country.
