Six Moon Designs' "Six Moon" was named after the fact that it takes about six months to complete the 4,279 km Pacific Crest Trail (PCT). When brand owner Ron Moak experienced the PCT in 2000, he felt a strong need for lightweight gear, which inspired him to create innovative ultra-lightweight gear.

Brand owner Ron Moak was fascinated by the Appalachian Trail after his first backpacking experience in high school. A few years later, he set out on the 3,500km Appalachian Trail with his wife Linda in the summer of 1977. Inspired by hikers like Grandma Gatewood, Ron and Linda began making their own hiking gear and completed the PCT in 2000.
In May 2002, Six Moon Designs produced its first product, the Europa Tent. The Europa Tent met various criteria, such as being lightweight yet sturdy, easy to set up, and reasonably priced, making it a tent that is suitable for a wide range of use, including in the backcountry. Since then, the company has released a series of innovative products, including the Starlight Pack, Gatewood Cape, and Luna Solo. Ron is one of the few hikers to have achieved the Triple Crown. His extensive experience on the trails has led to the development of excellent gear for all those who enjoy the outdoors. Six Moon Designs is based in Portland, Oregon, USA.

The Six Moon Designs Skyscape Trekker Scout Hiking Tent is designed for a comfortable and lightweight outdoor experience. It weighs just 1134g, making it an ultra-lightweight piece of gear, yet extremely durable.

This hiking tent is modelled on the popular Skyscape Trekker but is made from a more cost-effective 190T polyester fabric that completely repels water, keeping you comfortable even in bad weather.

The Skyscape Scout offers a spacious interior with a simple design. It's the perfect size for solo campers, yet still provides plenty of room to lounge and relax, while still providing plenty of protection from the wind and rain.

This tent is also very easy to set up. Just set up the poles, pull up the shelter, and the tent is complete. It can be set up by one person in a short time, ensuring a smooth outdoor camping experience.

The Skyscape Scout is perfect for a variety of outdoor activities, including hiking, trekking, backpacking, etc. It is lightweight and compact, minimizing the burden on your luggage and making it suitable for long-term camping and travel.

All Skyscape models utilize a dual fixed length 45" or 115cm pole support structure to create an A-frame like structure. This can be accomplished by using trekking poles, or our collapsible aluminum and carbon fiber poles (sold separately). The poles work great with the Scout, and while the aluminum poles are less expensive, the carbon fiber poles are half the weight. The dual pole structure is slightly offset from the center of the tent. The offset creates extra headroom when lying down and reduces a feeling of claustrophobia. Additionally, it allows the Skyscape to be extremely stiff when guyed, creating a structure that can weather the worst storms.

Skyscape features Hybrid Double Wall Construction. Over 80% of the canopy is separated by mesh walls to keep out wet canopy. Hybrid Double Wall Construction allows you to roll up your vestibule. Turn your Skyscape into a net tent for warm summer nights. Keep pesky bugs outside while you enjoy the views and breeze. Skyscape's large side entry door allows you to easily enter the tent and get your gear out. With a floor length of over 100 inches, Skyscape accommodates the tallest hikers. You can carry a light tent and still sleep well. The Scout's canopy and floor are made from 190T polyester. This fabric is used in literally millions of tents, making it extremely cost-effective. The incorporation of polyester fabric in the Scout makes it the most affordable ultralight tent on the market today. The Scout is perfect for those just starting to explore the world of ultralights.

Handling Precautions

Apply a sealant to the seams of your shelter before use to ensure they are completely water repellent, and use Gear Aid Seam Grip Plus FC to seal the seams.
