OUTSIDE IN A vintage classic cast iron hot sandwich maker called "Hot n' Toasty". *This product is handmade by craftsmen and cannot be mass-produced, so it is only available once a month. Reservations are accepted, but if we are unable to make it in time or if we are busy with orders, we will only take reservations for the next batch. Please note that we cannot accept cancellations due to delivery dates.

Made in Niigata, Sanjo

It is made of heavy, strong ductile cast iron in Sanjo City, Niigata Prefecture, a town famous for metal processing and where OOUTSIDE IN is based. It has a unique neo-classical design, and even the handle is cast in one piece, making it a difficult design that would make any foundry worker cry, but it is beautifully made by the craftsmanship of Sanjo.

Can be used with various cooking appliances such as induction cookers

You can grill it outdoors over a campfire or charcoal fire. Of course, it can also be used on a gas stove, and it is also compatible with induction cookers, so you can easily enjoy hot sandwiches at home.

A loaf of bread sized pocket filled with plenty of ingredients

The square shape is made to fit the size of a loaf of bread, and the thickness is perfect for 6 slices, allowing you to put in plenty of ingredients (you can also cut it into 8 slices if you have a lot of ingredients). In addition, the structure presses the inside of the bread crust all the way around, sealing in the ingredients and keeping the outside crispy while keeping the inside very juicy. *The crust itself is not crushed.

For those who are not familiar with cast iron products

This product is made of iron. It has been pre-seasoned (oiled) to prevent rust, but if it is left wet or with the oil film removed, it will rust. There is no problem with the product, so please remove the rust and apply oil again.

Can be used as two separate plates

It can be separated into two plates, top and bottom, so it can also be used as a skillet.

How to use

Coat the inside of the Hot 'n Toasty evenly with olive oil or salad oil.

Place your favorite ingredients on the bottom bread, then place the top bread on top and cover.

Lock it using the metal fitting at the end of the handle.

Cook over low to medium heat for 2-3 minutes, then flip and cook the other side for a further 2-3 minutes and it's done.

After use, wash with a scrubbing pad or brush, preferably without using detergent.

After washing, heat it over a fire and dry it, then while it is still hot, apply vegetable oil all over and let it soak in.
