Made in Hokkaido

This piece was made by Hokkaido Ezo deer craftsman Terui at the request of BushCraft Inc. Terui's comment on this piece: Craftsman for 40 years. I graduated from the first woodcarving school in Japan and became a craftsman in Shiretoko 40 years ago. I'm really glad that I started Ezo deer crafts. My friends from back then have passed away, though.

I want to inspire people, even if it's just a small thing. I don't want to lose to anyone in that regard.

It's not a difficult piece, but I tried my best to make it moving. The design of this piece is very simple, but that president has his own quirks, so I feel like he'll say something difficult one day (lol). Well, I don't think he could do something like this the same as an ordinary person.

Deer antler is a rare and wonderful material.

In Shiretoko, trees began to be protected, and I focused on antlers. I thought they were a wonderful material with great potential for the future. Now they are attracting attention as an alternative to ivory, and their rarity and value are on the rise. Because there are so many deer in Hokkaido, surprisingly few people are aware of their value. I hope that anyone who owns this piece will understand their rarity and greatness.

The piece is attached by wedging hemp string between the corner and the rod. It is a simple construction, but it is a suitable method for this piece. If it comes loose, please put the hemp string back in. Since this piece cannot be mass-produced, the corners have been left in their original shape. We sincerely hope that you will find a piece that you like.
