★Pahkataide Kuksa, solid curly birch, handmade by kuksa craftsmen, camping equipment, outdoor★
[Conditions for a genuine kuksa]
A carved wooden cup is not a kuksa. There are certain conditions to be called a kuksa. Originally, kuksa is carved from birch burl. Curly birch is used for other materials. Pakkataide kuksa is a genuine kuksa, handcrafted by craftsmen in Finland, the birthplace of kuksa. It is a very valuable wood with a heavy specific gravity, which makes it very sturdy. Curly birch has similar characteristics and is often used for the handle material of puukko knives. Incidentally, kuksa is originally a cup for black coffee, and it is not supposed to be washed. After use, all you have to do is rub some coffee grounds on the inside, coat it with the oil from the beans, and knock it off. As you use it, it will eventually become shiny black.
[Pakkataidekusa Curly Birch Solid Wood]
Genuine kuksa, individually handcrafted by artisans at Pakkataide in Finland. Carved from curly birch, which features wavy grain. The kuksa handle has a unique curve. When you hold it with your fingers through the holes in the handle, you will feel how it fits comfortably in your hand. No two pieces are alike in the beautiful grain of curly birch. The bottom is inscribed with the name of Finnish kuksa craftsman Marco.
<In Finland>
If a beloved kuksa is damaged, it can be repaired by mixing wood powder with putty or tree resin to fill in the cracks, and it can be used again with care. This is a Finnish tradition that values wooden products, and is something we should all try to emulate.

★Notes★
If you suddenly pour hot water into a dry cup, it will absorb the water and expand rapidly, and if the cup has beautiful grain, it may crack from the grain. In dry weather, such as winter, please soak the cup in water until it is moist before using it. Unlike glass or ceramic cups, there is no danger even if a crack occurs.
